Starburst Creative is looking for an intermediate to senior level front-end web developer to join our team. This opportunity is a full-time on-site position in either our Edmonton or Toronto office. We are looking for someone to be proficient in the usual suspects (HTML, SASS, Javascript plus PHP and MySQL) and have experience working with designers, account managers, and clients. If you aren’t afraid to ask questions, clarify assignments, and try out new things, then this role is for you.
The majority of your day to day work would be in translating mock-ups from Sketch or Adobe Creative Cloud to fully responsive, functioning websites. While WordPress is our go-to CMS for websites, we believe in choosing the best tool for the job. Our technology stack includes everything from Nodejs and Ruby on Rails, to Symfony and CakePHP, to Swift and WatchKit.
You will also be responsible for working with the development team on problem solving and creating unique solutions based on client needs including estimating time and allocation of resources. From pair programming and regular code reviews to lunch and learns and team outings, we build better projects by investing in our talent.
Mandatory requirements:
- HTML
- SASS
- Javascript
- Knowledge of PHP 5.4/7
- General understanding of MySQL
Desirable:
- Experience with Ruby/Rails; WordPress; NodeJS; Grunt or Gulp
- Experience using command line tools; domain; and server maintenance
- Experience using static site generators (jekyll, pelican, middleman, etc)
- Experience with version control
- An understanding of technical SEO
